Presidential Commissioner Photis Photiou and Romanian Deputy Minister of Culture Diana-Ștefana Baciuna expressed their common will to deepen bilateral cooperation on diaspora issues during their bilateral meeting on Friday.
According to a statement by the Commissioner's Office, Photiou noted that 62 years of bilateral diplomatic relations show the long-standing relations, political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries, which are united by historical ties, common values, principles and aspirations.

For her part, Baciuna said that in Cyprus there is a vibrant and dynamic diaspora from Romania, numbering around 45,000 people, with relations between the two countries being very friendly, as they are united by many things and cooperate in all fields.

Concluding, Photiou said that special importance is given to the young generation and for this reason various actions and events will be co-organized, both in Cyprus and Romania, as well as in other countries with organized diaspora communities, such as the bilateral Cyprus-Romania event taking place on Friday at 18:30 at the Cine Studio of the University of Nicosia.
