The office of Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Issues and Overseas Cypriots Photis Photiou has announced that it was decided to create a helpline for Cypriot citizens abroad as well as the establishment of an electronic platform through which Cypriots of the Diaspora will be able to express their requests and questions.

According to a press release published by the Press and Information Office, Photiou took part on Thursday in an online discussion together with the heads of all Cypriots abroad organisations, the Republic of Cyprus` Consuls abroad and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Problems faced by our expatriates and ways of resolving them with the help of our Consulates were discussed but also a better coordination of relevant agencies in Cyprus in matters of the Cypriot Diaspora," the press release says.

It is added that it was decided to create a Cypriot Diaspora helpline in cooperation with the Consulates and other relevant state services for meeting the needs of our expatriates more effectively.

An electronic platform will also be created through which expatriates will be able to pose their requests and questions, the press release says.

The office of the Presidency Commissioner will coordinate the process in order to fast track dealing with these requests, it adds.

It is further noted that "the Diaspora constitutes one of the most valuable assets for Cyprus" and that the government will stand by it and particularly by the new generation of expatriates.
