Schools at Rizokarpaso
Three public schools operate under the responsibility and supervision of the
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth
for the needs of the Enclaved children in the occupied areas. These are the Rizokarpaso Kindergarten, Rizokarpaso Primary School and Rizokarpaso High School.
Each year, the
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth
ensures, in collaboration with the
Educational Service Committee
and the Service for the Enclaved /Humanitarian Affairs, to appoint the appropriate teaching staff for the three schools, as well as for the All-Day School. It also ensures that all necessary materials and means, books and stationery and all other equipment provided to schools in the Government controlled areas are also provided to the schools in the occupied areas. The schools of Rizokarpaso are equipped with all modern audiovisual media, computers, photocopiers, air conditioners, and relatively easy internet access. A mini football field has also been constructed.
The quality of education provided at Rizokarpaso is closely monitored by very frequent visits of Ministry officials and inspectors and appropriate instructions are given so that it can be improved, and for problems to be resolved as quickly as possible. The Ministry also monitors closely the general condition of students and ensures that specialized educational psychologists regularly visit the three schools for consultation. Students who wish to continue their studies at universities or colleges in the Government controlled areas are also offered assistance.
The Office of the Presidential Commissioner holds regular meetings with the participation of the Ministry of Education, School Principals and the School Board to resolve various issues and deal with the problems.
There is an Optional All-Day school at the Primary School and Kindergarten with all children participating in it, while at the High School, afternoon classes are often held for student support.
The schools are also staffed by cleaning crews, curators, attendants, cooks for the all-day school, and supporting secretarial staff.
