Photiou discusses possibility of World Conference on Interreligious Dialogue in Cyprus with WJC Representative at UN Geneva, CNA 11/4/2022
The organisation in Cyprus of a World Conference on Interreligious Dialogue, was discussed on Monday during a meeting between Presidency Commissioner Photis Photiou and Leon Saltiel, the World Jewish Congress Representative at the UN Geneva.
Director of the Centre for Greek Diaspora Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London, Achilleas Hadjikyriakou, was also present at the meeting, that took place at the Commissioner’s office in Nicosia.
According to a press release by Cyprus’ Press and Information Office, ways were discussed to promote various initiatives in the framework of the tripartite cooperation between Cyprus - Greece - Israel on issues of the Diaspora.
Particularly, it was agreed to promote and carry out activities such as the organisation in Cyprus of a World Conference on Interreligious Dialogue. At the same time, actions were discussed that promote the fight against anti-Semitism and terrorism, which could be carried out in European countries with the participation of the Greek Diaspora, the press release said.
